COMMUNITY SUPPORTED AGRICULTURE
Join us for the 2016 Summer Season!
By enrolling in our CSA, you can enjoy fresh, seasonal, specialty vegetables on a weekly basis. CSA, short for Community Supported Agriculture, allows people to support their local farmers while enjoying all the bounty a farm has to offer. The CSA is a mutually beneficial relationship that enables consumers to connect to where and how their food is grown, while supporting the farmers during a time when expenses are high and income is low. CSAs reduce dependency on bank loans and create a more resilient, food-aware community. Rather than simply purchasing produce, members of a CSA receive a weekly portion of the farm's harvest, receiving a 10-20% discount on market prices. Spirit of Walloon Market Garden offers unique share sizes and sessions to meet your needs. Our 20 week session runs from June 9th to October 20th, and our 10 week session runs from June 30th to September 1st.

What are the share costs?
We offer two share sizes and two sessions.
20 Week Full Share: A full-sized 20 week session share costs $624 and runs from June 9th to October 20th.
20 Week Half Share: A half-sized 20 week session share costs $399 and runs from June 9th to October 20th.
10 Week Full Share: A full-sized 10 week summer harvest session share costs $330 and runs from June 30th to September 1st.
10 Week Half Share: A half-sized 10 week summer harvest session share costs $231 and runs from June 30th to September 1st.
There is always the option to split a share with a neighbor or friend. This is an advantage if you want a half or quarter share, if you are regularly away from your up-north home, or if you are unsure of your ability to consume the expected quantity of produce.
Payment: Your payment may be in cash, check or credit/debit card before the season starts (any time before May 1st). The CSA helps support the farm at a time when income is low and expenses are high. With this in mind, we please request that the entire CSA payment is made up front. We understand that this could be cost prohibitive for some people and we do not want to exclude anyone from membership. If an entire one-time payment is difficult, please contact us and we can arrange a payment plan.
If you decide that a CSA is not for you or you are not satisfied, payments are refundable up to the fourth week of the season (minus the price of the shares you have already received).
When and where do I pick up my vegetables?
There are three ways to pick up your produce. First, you can pick up your share each week from the farm at 07965 Horton Bay Road in Boyne City. Distribution time is on Thursdays from 4:30-6:00. Secondly, you can have your share packed and available for pick up at 06255 Zenith Heights Road on Walloon Lake in Boyne City. These prepacked shares will also be available on Thursdays from 4:30- 6. To account for prepacking and transportation, this option will cost an additional $1.25/week. Thirdly, you may pick up your share at the local farmer’s market. We offer pick-up at the Downtown Petoskey Farmer's Market on Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and the Boyne City Farmer's Market on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. These pre-packed share options cost an additional $2.50 per week. If you cannot pick up your share during the designated day/time, you can arrange for someone else to pick it up for you. If you are unable to make the designated pickup time for a specific week, we arrange can a separate pickup time.
What If I Am Out Of Town Or Leave Before The End Of The Season?
If you are out of town or leave before the end of the season, you can arrange for someone else to pick up your share, or your share can be donated to a local food bank.
Does All of Your Production Go To the CSA?
Our farm also provides to farmer’s markets, restaurants, and local retailers. Although production is not segregated, our CSA receives top priority; afterwards, our other markets are serviced.
